The two-audience problem nobody else acknowledges

A search for vape slogans returns brand work and anti-vape work mixed together, and most articles ignore the distinction. They're not the same job. A pro-vape brand needs to sell adult vapers on flavour, ritual, and quiet enjoyment without triggering an FDA letter. An anti-vape campaign needs to land a public-health message with teenagers who tune out adult voices. The vocabulary, the tone, the rhyme schemes, the regulatory constraints — none of them overlap. A slogan written for both audiences serves neither.

What works on the brand side

Adult-vaper brand slogans cluster around flavour, ritual, and the in-moment experience of vaping itself. Lines that name a specific sensation ("the flavour you remember between draws") outperform generic claims about clouds or premium quality, because adult vapers shop the experience and they've heard the cloud copy a thousand times. The strongest indie brands in the category lean on quietness — "Adult vaping. Quietly excellent". — as a deliberate counterweight to the loud, chrome-and-flame visual style of mass-market vape marketing.

What works for anti-vaping campaigns

Anti-vaping slogans aimed at schools and public-health campaigns work on different rules entirely. Rhyme matters more than it does almost anywhere else in adult marketing, because the audience is teenagers and rhyme survives in memory. "Don't trade air for vape", "Breathe clean, vape never seen", "Lungs aren't a juice container" — the lines that actually appear on school posters tend to be either rhyming or literal. The CDC and major school-district campaigns have tested both and found that rhyming lines outperform on recall while literal lines outperform on attitude shift. A campaign that wants both runs both.

Catchphrases, captions, and the social side

Vape captions for Instagram are a third subgenre — neither brand slogans nor anti-vape PSAs, but personal voice for individual vapers posting cloud photos or device shots. Funny vape nicknames ("the dragon", "the pen of patience"), in-jokes, and self-deprecating one-liners do the work here. Brands that try to inject themselves into this register usually fail, because the audience can smell a brand voice trying to sound like a regular vaper. The brands that succeed in social give vapers content they want to share rather than scripting the captions for them.

Trademark and regulatory realities

Brand-side vape slogans sit in Nice Class 34 (smokers' articles, including e-cigarettes) for the device and Class 30/32 for some flavoured products. FDA deeming regulations in the US, TPD in the EU/UK, and similar frameworks in Australia and Canada all restrict claims about smoking cessation, modified risk, and youth audiences. Anti-vaping slogans, by contrast, fall under public-health communication and are usually run by government or non-profit campaigns — the trademark concern is lower, but the campaign-rights question (who owns 'breathe air, you don't need a vape' if a school district uses it?) is worth checking before reuse. The line that survives in either category is the one written for a single, specific audience and tested with members of that audience before it ever reaches a billboard, a poster, or a window decal.
